About

Jordan Lapp March 23rd, 2007

It was my intention when I created this blog to chronicle my journey to success as a writer. The title of this blog will make sense once I’ve completed that journey. Consider it a work in progress. Like any novelist, I’ve simply named my opus before it is complete.

Why should you read this blog? Well, writing has changed in the 21st century. It is not enough to simply write great stories and throw them out there hoping that they’ll get picked up. The number of people reading good books is shrinking. Media such as games, TV, and, yes, the internet are gobbling up market share. Are writers going the way of the Dodo? No. We simply need to tap into as many resources as possible to succeed. To paraphrase John Scalzi, “The greatest danger facing the writer today is obscurity.”

In this blog, I will be providing you with the tools to get your name out there and succeed as a writer. There are a lot of writers blogging about their craft. Joshua Palmatier’s blog is a highly recommend source for this. Although I’ll be chipping in with my own gems of wisdom as I come across them, the primary focus of this blog is to share the wisdom of the experts. I will be posting links to other must read blogs by Literary Agents, Writers and Editors. I will be highlighting authors that I think you should read. I will be blogging about Cons, Contests, and Forums where you can raise your visibility. I will be sharing technical info on how you can make your blog more visible

In short, everything I am doing to boost my own career, I will be sharing with you. If you can think anything that you’ve done that really helped your career, feel free to e-mail me and I will post it here.
