I commented on this concept on my blog a few months back under a "That's the Best?" heading and said pretty much the same thing. Rather than being specifically oriented to Amazon or Midwest Book Review, however, I was being merely selfish and reacting to reader ratings on a book I reviewed for SFReader's Book Reviews.
