I've heard it said that it's much easier to get published in a pro-market after you've published a book. From an editor's point of view I can agree that having a famous author's name on the cover would help to move issues, but I cherish the belief that good writing trumps all.

I suppose it has to do with its popularity and "name brand".  Everybody and their house pet sends in a submission.
